This reminds me of many years ago when my rough and tough wrestling coach used to yell at our team, “Don’t Try! Do!” He would say this whenever we tried to make excuses for not winning. You see, these words from my coach may seem harsh, but they taught us that trying and hoping are really just excuses that lead to disempowerment, weakness, not giving our best effort, and usually losing.
Saying, “I’ll try.” is given ourselves a way out before we even begin. Just hoping to win allows us to not fully invest ourselves into the task-at-hand. This hoping and trying are forever tied together and when we use them it gives us permission not to do our best. It gives us permission not to succeed because when things don’t work out we can just say, “Hey I tried.” Or, “I was hoping that that would work out, but unfortunately it didn’t.” Come on… who can blame someone who was hoping for the best and tried to get it to work out, right? See where I am going with this?
Well, if you want to move the trajectory of your life’s path closer to the world of success then know instead of hope! And know with all your being and with the total essence of who you really are. Know for sure, and I’m certain you’ll take action and do what you are supposed to do in order to succeed. And once you become a doer then I am sure your future will be heavily peppered with success and winning. Furthermore, you will not become one of those people who worry that their best days are behind them because you will know that you are a doer, and a doer’s best days are still in front of them, regardless of what they may have already accomplished.
Now teens, go learn, lead, and lay the way to a better world for all of us. Don’t hope! Know! Don’t try! Do! And once again, thanks in advance for all that you do, and all that you will do…
